Torres del Paine

Some of the peaks around the backside of the circuit...before we had to turn around because there was too much snow to cross the path. That, and the avalanches that kept falling...
Futbol!!! In the driving snow, with the Chileans at the refugio where we were waiting out the worst of the snow. Hilarious!
Happy Laura! Bundled for the snow-camping...
Refugio Dickson...saved us from having the be outside through the entire storm.
The crew outside Dickson - L to R - Melissa and Daniel (USA), me, Florian (Germany), Angie (Canada), and Aaron (Australia).
Hello everyone!

I am in Puerto Natales, Chile, just outside of the Torres del Paine national park, just having returned from an 8-day trek through the park. Quite an experience, one that is better described through photos...so, here you go!

Besos from Patagonia,

Torres...

I know...I look like I'm posing. But look at the backdrop! A break from the snow showed us some incredible views.
Patagonia!
Drying all of our stuff that night...Angie barefooted, me, Daniel standing, and a few of our Chilean friends behind us (mostly porters with a guided group) - Carlos is in orange, Lucho in black.
Snow camping! (there was a theme to the trip...)
Sunrise on the front side of the circuit, the ´w´it is called.

Torres...

As the snow was clearing...amazing peaks above us.
Deep snow into the French valley. But Florian and I still went up to get a peak at the glaciar - very cool!
This is just next to Glaciar Grey - our last day-hike before leaving. Day 7.
In front of Glaciar Grey - me, Florian, Angie, and Aaron. Still cold!!
Celebrating our last night together on trail - Daniel, Hernan (the Ghilean guide who we ended up traveling with for a bit), Aaron, and me. Someone said something funny, I guess!

Torres...

And one final pic of the beautiful mountains - our last morning was BEAUTIFUL. Such a nice gift, as we had had so many snowy days and nights.

From here, I head tomorrow to El Calafate, where I will see the Perito Moreno Glaciar. I am traveling with some friends now, which is great, but we will part after the glaciar, as we all have different travel plans and schedules. I am truly enjoying traveling and will hopefully update the blog again soon.

Thanks for following my travels!

Abrazos to all,

laurita
